1. In his liner notes, Lynch asserts that another song, “Good Day Today,” is about “being sick of negativity.” I do think that Lynch — cheerfully productive, a dedicated student of Transcendental Meditation — is an artist for whom the creation of art is a way of holding negativity at bay, even if the roiling undercurrents of his work frequently grapple with emotions and situations most of us would consider negative. If not outright upsetting or weird. Ah, but the creation of them — that’s where his pleasure comes from. And, if you get on his wavelength, your pleasure as well.

The Vice + Intel Creators Project video with Warren Fischer is worth your time.

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: ‘It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to."

  10. Who’s Next?

Ethereal, Tropical, Crunk, Visual or Acousmatic - these labels seem to define the sounds that speak to me most recently.

    Now we have Unouomedude.

Jacksonville’s Unouomedude is making some bold pop. He’s bringin’ everything from 8-bit beatz to anthemic indie jams, and covering it all with strong vocals. I expect we’ll be seeing a lot more from Uno in the coming months. Give him a follow on the tumblrs.

    Doghead Fish Craft Brewed Ales

In honor of the 40th anniversary of the original release of Bitches Brew, Miles Davis’ 1970 paradigm-shifting landmark fusion breakthrough, we’ve created our own Bitches Brew - a bold, dark beer that’s a fusion of three threads imperial stout and one thread honey beer with gesho root, a gustatory analog to Miles’ masterpiece.Featuring the album’s iconic artwork, created by the late Mati Klarwein, on its label, Dogfish Head’s Bitches Brew will be unveiled at SAVOR, An American Craft Beer & Food Experience, June 5, National Building Museum, Washington DC.
